These two U.S. Coast Guard Cutters were sunk in 1987. The Duane
sets upright in 120' of water. You first encounter will be the crows
nest at about 60'. The main deck is at a depth of 100'. There are
numerous levels in between. The doors on these levels have been
removed. So what was once areas busy with activity are now home
to various sea creatures. The Bibb lies on her starboard side. It was
hoped that it too would have settled upright but the best laid plans
of mice and men. With the Bibb on her side this gives to an entirely
different dive than the Duane. She rest in 130' of water with her hull
is at a depth of 90'. Divers must go over the offshore side to explore
the superstructure as it reaches out over the sea floor. Because the
Bibb rest on its side the depth is much greater and is dove on less.
The Bibb now stands upright after Wilma hit the keys. Leave it up to
mother nature to fix some things that man messes up.
