3-Day Combination is our Most Popular Course!
General Description: This 3 day course combines beginner and intermediate levels of instruction. The Florida Keys are ideal in that we have the Atlantic Ocean, Florida Bay and busy harbors all creating unique sailing conditions. Students will experience the real conditions they will encounter in actual coastal cruising, such as tidal currents, channel markers and buoys, anchoring, wind and many others.
This 3-Day Course includes: Sailing Terminology, Rules of the Road, Understanding Charts and Markers, Knots and Lines, Proper Sail Adjustment, Reefing, VHF Radio Procedures, Seamanship Skills, Docking, Mooring and Anchoring Techniques, Opening Draw Bridges. Tides and Currents, and ... Having Fun Just Sailing.
We definitely suggest following this class with our 3-Day Bareboat Cruising (ASA BBC 104) to sharpen your sailing skills and gain more experience before you actually go cruising on your own. We say this because extended time on the water helps you to further develop your sailing and boating skills giving you more confidence and the ability to recognize and anticipate the consequences of wind and sea conditions.
